Formation

Life on the road with Jesus is one of intentionality. As a people, our spiritual formation is rooted in corporate worship and God’s means of grace (word, sacrament, and prayer). As we scatter into our various vocations throughout the week, our growth as Christ’s disciples takes many forms. Below are various resources to help us in this formation.

Personal Devotion

Bible Reading Plan

The Word of God is given to us to teach us, change us, and train us for the road with Jesus. A steady and broad reading of the Word is one of the means God has given us to grow in wisdom and righteousness (2 Tim 3:14-17). If you don’t have a current reading practice, consider these resources.

The 19th Century Scottish minister, Robert Murray M’Cheyne, prepared a plan for Bible reading to take readers through the New Testament and Psalms twice a year, and through the rest of the Bible once each year. Click here to access a PDF of the plan.

Access an online resources of devotional commentaries from D.A. Carson’s book For the Love of God (vol. 1) that follow the M’Cheyne Bible reading plan. You can read and listen to the commentary here.

Interpersonal Discipleship

Catechesis

Catechesis (cat-uh-KEY-sis) comes from a Greek word which means “oral instruction.” For centuries, Christians have taught each other using catechisms—tools that help us understand what the Word of God tells us about God, about ourselves, and about the good news of salvation in Christ. There are many good catechisms out there, but we have developed a resource that takes the 52-week Heidelberg catechism and paired it with Scripture references, Scripture memory, and more. This tool is best used with a mentor or with a friend. Click below to dive in.

(Note: this tool is being developed week by week. It is designed to start in week 1 of 2026).

Family Worship

RHYTHMS OF WORSHIP

While corporate worship with God’s people on Sunday is the indispensible center of our Christian life and formation, we can take these same rhythms home to our families. Meditate on the confession of sin together before starting your day, sing a hymn together before going to bed, or read the Scripture texts together.
