children

One third of our congregation is either in elementary school or younger! That means we are always working hard on understanding and practicing a Biblical theology of children. And we won't lie to you - it is hard work. But it is joyful work as the Lord has given it.

If you plan to visit our church and want to know what to expect with your children on Sunday morning, you will find it on our "Children During the Service" section of the "I'm New" page.

On Sunday mornings we offer a fully staffed Nursery for children ages 0-12 months. For children age 1-5 years we offer Worship Training during the Service. For 6-8 year olds we offer Worship Training during the sermon on Communion Sundays only (1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of each month).

On Sunday evenings in the fall, winter and spring we offer our School of Life and Doctrine with classes for all ages including children.

a word about worship training

We were all made to worship, but we don't know how until someone shows us. With this in mind, we seek to train our children to worship God. Our goal is to prepare them to enter into the "big" Worship Service with their parents, better able to listen and engage with the liturgy as they grow in maturity. In Worship Training, leaders guide the children in singing, prayer, a simple liturgy and a curriculum lesson with age appropriate activities. This is a time of engagement with leaders to help our young ones focus on their purpose which is to worship their Creator, Redeemer and King.

Foster childcare

Several of our NsP families care for foster children in their homes through Covenant Kids Family Services, and they need help! It can be hard to simply find an occasional babysitter because the foster care system requires screening for all potential caretakers. If occasional babysitting might fit into your calendar, then you can help. Teenagers can apply as well, but will require references. Here's the process:

  1. Print and complete the Babysitter Worksheet
  2. Print and complete the Background Check form
  3. Make a photocopy of your Drivers License and Social Security card.

You can scan and email these documents to mphan@ckfamilyservices.org or mail to:

Once your background check is complete, Covenant Kids will contact you with instructions for getting fingerprints. The cost for this is ~$40 and NsP will reimburse the cost for you if you call the church office (214-438-0120). Then you will be cleared to help and you will be a great blessing to these families!
